Session Structure
1. Welcome and Warm-Up (5 Minutes)
- Check-in: Greet the patient and ask how they are feeling today.

2. Exploration (10 Minutes)
- Open-Ended Questions:
- "What does feeling content mean to you?"
- "Are there specific aspects of your life or daily routine that contribute to this feeling?"
- Encourage Reflection: Gently prompt them to think about why they might feel indifferent or neutral about certain areas of their life.
3. Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (10 Minutes)
- Cognitive Restructuring:
- Identify any automatic negative thoughts they may have about their neutral engagement.
- Challenge these thoughts by asking, “What evidence do you have that supports or contradicts these thoughts?”
- Goal Setting:
- Ask, "If you could choose one area of life to engage with more meaningfully, what would it be?"
- Encourage them to articulate small, achievable goals related to that area.
4. Coping Strategy Discussion (3 Minutes)
- Introduce Mindfulness and Gratitude: Briefly explain how these techniques can enhance feelings of contentment.
- Practice a Quick Mindfulness Exercise: Guide the patient through a 1-minute mindfulness breathing exercise to promote greater presence and engagement.
5. Session Wrap-Up (2 Minutes)
- Review: Summarize insights gained during the session.
- Encourage Ongoing Reflection: Ask them to identify one thought or goal to focus on until the next session.
- Schedule Next Session: Confirm scheduling to maintain a supportive therapeutic relationship.
Additional Notes
- Monitor Non-Verbal Cues: Keep an eye out for signs of engagement or disengagement throughout the session. Adjust the pace and tone accordingly.
- Homework (if applicable): Suggest that the patient observe moments of contentment in daily life and record them to discuss in future sessions.
